GAZ-46 MAW Amphibious Vehicle.
'The experience gained by the Red Army during the use, of US-made lightweigh amphibious vehicles Ford GPA, delivered to the USSR under the lend-lease agreement, intiated the working process on the Soviet equivalent of this kind of vehicle. Using the components of implemented in the early fifties GAZ-69 4x4 car, the floating device designated as GAZ-46 MAW was constructed. Produced for three years (1952-1955) the vehicle has been replaced by BRDM-1 armored car. The user of GAZ-46 MAV were the Soviet Army and the armed forces of the Warsaw Pact countries. During the Oder-crossing operation in 1945, the 1. Polish Army used the Soviet amphibious vehicles Ford GPA, which was the predecessor of GAZ-46 MAW'.

'Doświadczenia zdobyte przez Armię Czerwoną w trakcie używania amerykańskich, lekkich amfibii Ford GPA, dostarczonych do ZSRR w ramach umowy pożyczki-dzierżawy zainicjowały prace nad radzieckim odpowiednikiem tego pojazdu. Wykorzystując podzespoły wdrożonego do produkcji na początku lat piećdzisiątych samochodu terenowego GAZ-69, powstała odmiana pływająca, oznaczona jako GAZ-46 MAW. Produkowany przez trzy lata (1952-1955) pojazd został zastąpiony samochodem pancernym BRDM-1. Użytkownikiem GAZa-46 MAV była armia radziecka oraz siły zbrojne państw Układu Warszawskiego. Podczas forsowania Odry w 1945 r. 1. Armia Wojska Polskiego użyła użyczonych przez stronę radziecką amfibii Ford GPA, na których wzorowana była konstrukcja GAZa-46 MAW'.

  1. We don't have that model in our War Museum, though we do have a number of Warsaw Pact military vehicles. I like this one.
