We Will Rock You

6-metrowa figura Freddiego Mercurego stała na Dominion Theatre w Londynie w latach 2002 - 2014 i promowała musical 'We Will Rock You'. Roger Taylor (perkusista Queen) zabrał ją do siebie i postawił w ogrodzie. Rada Dystryktu Guildford, gdzie mieszka Taylor, początkowo sprawiała mu kłopoty w związku z tak wysoką statuą na prywatnej posesji. Ostatecznie jednak zezwoliła na taką 'ozdobę'. Reżyserem 'We Will Rock You' był Ben Elton, natomiast Roger Taylor i Brian May (gitarzysta Queen) byli współtwórcami spektaklu, który przez dwanaście lat obejrzało 6,6 miliona widzów. Taylor przyznał się, że przechytrzył May'a i po ostatnim spektaku po prostu poprosił, by zapakować figurę Mercurego na ciężarówkę i przewieźć ją do domu Guildford.

The 6-meter figure of Freddie Mercury stood at the Dominion Theater in London in 2002 - 2014 and promoted the musical 'We Will Rock You'. Roger Taylor (Queen's drummer) 'nicked it' and put it in the garden. The Guildford Borough Council, where Taylor lives, initially caused trouble for him with such a tall statue on private property. Ultimately, however, allowed for such an 'ornament'. "We Will Rock You" was directed by Ben Elton, while Roger Taylor and Brian May (Queen's guitarist) co-created the show, which was watched by 6.6 million viewers over twelve years. Taylor admitted that he had outsmarted May and, after the final spectacle, simply asked to pack the Mercury statue on a truck and bring it to the Guildford house.

    1. And I've heard one of the Queen songs on Instagram lately, and I realised I have these pictures in my archives. I like their music very much.

  4. An interesting course of events:):) At the moment the name dominion is not loved in the USA, because they were the machines that allowed the fraud of the election. If you had this post up for All Seasons, I can imagine why I found you in my spam folder today (smiling, America is so hyper sensitive now on what is kosher and what is not). Anyway, later I will look again (because after I put it out of the spam folder I don't see it), if you posted this for all Seasons, or another. have a beautiful week, Jesh

    1. OMG, I posted it to All Seasons. America is really hypersensitive about many things right now... Sometimes I can't believe in some opinions when I read news from US.

  5. I saw the show 3 times. Ben Elton regularly changed the dialogue to keep it topical. I didn't know that about the statue. Great post.
