Ustka is a city located in the north of Poland at the mouth of the Slupia River. It is a well-known seaside resort. It was founded around the thirteenth century, for the moment it is a port and a spa.
When in Ustka, of course, you should see the sea and the beach. Ustka has two bathing areas, eastern and western. We were on the western side.
To reach the beach, you have to go through the park. Irena Kwiatkowska's bench is a must see thing. The park also has a statue of Fryderyk Chopin and the statue 'Dying Warrior'The Dom Pracy Tworczej (House of Creative Work) is nearby. The building dates from the 19th century and is a seasonal hotel.
On the way, at least take a look at  Villa Red. A neat, eye-catching building that used to be the summer residence of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
Walking along the promenade we got to the port, with the lighthouse that doesn't draw attention. In comparison to Kołobrzeg, it is rather small but very beautiful (the word I think is cosy here).
Of course, you should also take photos with the Mermaid. She watches the entrance to the port. Once a statue of Saint was standing here. John of Nepomuk. Since 2010, however, the Ustka Mermaid is located on the eastern breakwater. It has a short but interesting story that you can read here.
Next, we set off by the port wharf, which in itself is worth a look, but above all smells of fish here.
Unfortunately, there was no time to go to the west, so we turned back to the port with climatic streets.
Here we waited to the opening of the pedestrian and bicycle crossings to the west. The transition, or exactly the bridge, which is moved every hour for fifteen minutes. It's worth seeing it, especially in the evening.
We're coming back to the hotel walking through empty streets in the evening ...

'The first Ustka lighthouse is believed to have been the tower of the church once situated in the Park of John Paul II (about 300 metres from here) then replaced with an oil lamp and a metal lens giving off red light, which was hung up on the pole of the port pilots' station. This lighthouse was built in 1892 together with a new pilots' station (the lower part of the building). The building was made of red face-brick in a rough, Prussian style and resembles the lighthouses in Czołpino and Jarosłąwiec which lights are also visible in Ustka. The Ustka lighthouse is 21,5 metres high. You can see its light from the distance of above 30 kilometres.'

'The Mermaid of Ustka. The mermaid first appeared in the coat of arms of the town in 1922 - placed by the painter, Wilhelm Granzow, on the shield of the statue of "The dying warrior" (the statue is located in the park in Chopin street). The mermaid, symbolising all the charms of the bathing area, is enjoying a bath in the sea with a sailing ship in the background - which, in turn, symbolises sailing. The mermaid holds a salmon, a pride of Ustka fishery. This coat of arms became official in 1924. According to a legend by Franciszek Fenikowski, the figure's name is Bryzga Rosowa and she is in the process of presenting salmons to a poor widow anxiously waiting for her only son to return from a fishing expedition.
The mermaid's statue was unveiled in 2010. It was funded by the citizens and friends of Ustka and designed by Michał Rosa, a sculptor from Ustka. The material for the statue was collected thanks to a public collection of bronze products.
A legend has it that whoever strokes the left breast of the statue of the mermaid - shall have a wish and a half come true for them. Why a wish and a half? Well, three wishes are said to come true thanks to a golden 100 per cent fish - and the Mermaid is, after all, a golden half fish - half woman... and therefore, a fish in fifty percents.'

Zaprojektował go Michał Rosa, rzeźbiarz z Ustki.
Półtora - bo trzy życzenia spełniają złote stuprocentowe rybki, a Syrenka to złocista pół ryba, pół kobieta, czyli ryba w pięćdziesięciu procentach.'
