When we saw the pirate ship in the pool and the little slides, we knew that the Petra Mare Hotel in Ierapetra, Crete, would be perfect for us, especially our daughter.

Ierapetra is located approximately 1-1.5 hours from the Heraklion airport. I don't like going to a hotel that much, especially with a child, but I always see the bright side. Thanks to this, we could see a piece of the island :)

When we entered the room and saw we had a balcony overlooking the sea, I was so happy. The view was breathtaking. I enjoyed it every day and I was so relaxed looking at the water.

Petra Mare Hotel belongs to the 'Itaka Friends Club', so the animations for children were in Polish. The ladies took great care of the little ones. Sometimes there was no time for the swimming pool: 0) They organized thematic activities every day (eg Pirate's Day or Chef's Day), and in the evening, together with the hotel's animators, they conducted a mini disco. Two swimming pools were available for guests. One for children (maximum 0.45 meters deep) and the other for adults and older children (1.40 meters deep). In the first one, the kids had slides, a pirate ship, and fountains. There is also a mini-ship and mini-slides for 0+ toddlers. The larger pool was large and there was a pool bar next to it. Out of habit, we took the sunbeds with towels in the morning, but there was really no problem with places. The sun loungers filled the beach, and I liked the proximity to it the most. From the sun lounger by the pool, I would go swimming in the sea and return for a towel. The sea is clean, warm, and beautiful.

The food in the restaurant was delicious. We did not get bored. We chose something different every day. The kitchen served both continental and local dishes, and for kids, dishes that they would like (e.g. 'Peppa Pig'-shaped pasta or cooked vegetables without spices). On the other hand, I always left a place for Greek sweets. I did not deny myself baclava or kataifi. In addition, on my plate, there were banofee or cakes with cream (I like that, but everyone could choose something for themselves). Always fresh fruits complemented the whole.\

The rooms were large and clean, cleaned daily. Hassle-free Wi-Fi worked for us in the evenings. The extra bed for a child was the size of a double bed. We were delighted with the balcony overlooking the sea, which I've already mentioned. A comfortable seat on the balcony provided comfort during morning and evening talks. It is an amazing feeling when you wake up and hear the sound of the sea. In the evening we looked at the mountains, between which the last rays of the setting sun were breaking through.

Thanks to the hotel's animators, our holidays were still active. Daily stretching, water gymnastics, cocktail games, volleyball, ping-pong, darts, pilates, yoga did not allow for boredom. Importantly, the animators were walking around the pool and invited to joint activities. Thanks to this, I was less shy to go to such attractions. Water sports in the sea required an additional fee. We took a banana ride, and I tried a SUP, which I liked very much. The Mediterranean Sea, at least near Ierapetra, is wonderfully clear. You are floating on a board and you can see the bottom which is actually 3 to 5 meters below you.

It is a great hotel for families with children. For couples, it is worth considering, if only because of its location. It is a good base for the eastern part of the island, the island of Rhodes or the coast of Turkey.

Pokoje były duże i czyste, codziennie sprzątane.
