'There were many vegetable fairs. The title of the oldest one noted by chroniclers goes to Borough Market in Southwark, established before the 11th century.' Peter Ackroyd, London. The Biography.
I came across Borough Market by accident. I wanted to photograph The Shard up close. However, I was delighted with the smell and view of the market. I have to admit I didn't make any purchases. I had so many things with me that I wouldn't know how to manage. Instead, I drank a delicious fresh fruit juice.
Borough Market is a London food market in the Southwark Borough. It is located right next to The Shard. It is one of London's largest food fairs. It is open every day except Sundays. From Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm, on Fridays from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm. The market is next to London Bridge, so you can get there on the Northern and Jubilee tube lines. Buses stop at London Bridge, Borough High Street and Southwark Street. Lines 43, 141,149,521 run there.
It is worth mentioning that this place appeared in several films: The Bridget Jones Diaries, The Countries, and also Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (my favourite part of Harry Potter).
