E for Entrance

You have already seen the monument commemorating 'Marriage to the Sea' in winter scenery. Here are some pictures of it taken in March 2015. Those were the first warm days that year. I caught a little bit of golden hour.
The monument commemorating 'Marriage to the Sea' was designed by the Polish architect and sculpturer, Wiktor Tołkin. It was built in 1963 and revealed on the 3rd November in the same year.
The main element of the construction is a stylised flag. The bas-reliefs of soldiers and mosaics on the walls symbolise a thousand-year tradition of Polish Armies in the Pomerania region. Next to the monument, there are stone slabs engraved with all the units' names that fought in the battle of Kołobrzeg in March 1945. There is also an aperture which represents a 'window to the world' which in this particular case symbolises the harbour (which is the ENTRANCE to the city).
The popular belief is that when you walk through the 'window' holding your breath and making a wish, that wish will come true.

Widzieliście już Pomnik Zaślubin z Morzem w zimowej scenerii. Dziś chcę pokazać zdjęcia z marca 2015. To były pierwsze cieplejsze dni tego roku. Załapałam się też trochę na złotą godzinę.
Pomnik Zaślubin z Morzem zaprojektował polski architekt i rzeźbiarz, Wiktor Tołkin.
