New law
According to the new law names of streets, buildings, roads, bridges, squares can't commemorate or symbolize communism. A lot of cities still had names like that, therefore the names had to be changed. There were three streets in my city that neeeded to be renamed.

Według nowego prawa nazwy ulic, budynków, dróg, mostów, placów nie mogą upamiętniać czy symbolizować komunizmu. Wiele miast wciąż posiadało tego typu nazwy, dlatego musiałyone zmienione. W moim mieście trzy ulice podlegaly nowej ustawie.

...this reminds me of the present situation in Southern States with Confederate statues. Perhaps some bit of history should not to saved. Thanks Klara for stopping by, I hope to see you again.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing as Tom. Should symbols or names of unfortunate times be out of view? It will not change history but will it cease to highlight it? Very interesting. What do you think of your street names being changed? Love your photos as always!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that the communist names are gone.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good idea. When I was in Poland last summer, there seemed to be plenty of reminders of communism still there in the architecture.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably a good thing :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a tanfastic week and thanks for stopping by :-)
It's probably for the best.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea. I'm sure it isn't being met with wholehearted enthusiasm by everyone, but time will take care of that. Many countries are now doing the same, separating their streets from the less happy parts of the past.
