Kaczka Mandarynka (Aix gelariculata)

Kończyłam fotografowanie w Ekoparku Wschodnim, gdy napotkałam to cudeńko. To kaczka mandarynka (Aix gelariculata). Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie dorzecze Amuru, Sachalin, Japonię, Mandżurię i wschodnie Chiny. W Europie hodowany od XVIII wieku. W Polsce spotykany głównie w zoo, prywatnych hodowlach, czasem w parkach.

----------

I was finishing shooting in the Eastern Ecopark when I encountered this miracle. This is a mandarin duck (Aix gelariculata). The species inhabits mainly the Amur basin, Sakhalin, Japan, Manchuria, and eastern China. In Europe, it has been bred since the 18th century. In Poland, it is found mainly in zoos, private farms, sometimes in parks. The famous habitat of this duck is Łazienki in Warsaw. The male is bright in color and the female is gray. These ducks mate with one partner for life and are therefore a symbol of fidelity. The couple found an interesting tree here, just right for laying eggs. I wonder if we will see mandarin ducklings in Ekopark soon?

  4. Hello, :=) At first I thought that the Mandarin Duck was painted and carved out of the wood it was perched on, but then I realised they were real live ducks. How wonderful that you saw them, and took such splendid photos. I hope the pair make a family. I always have a soft spot for birds which mate for life.
    Enjoy your weekend.:=)
