What to do on one rainy day in Paris?

We do sightseeing of course!

We visited Paris for only one day. We weren't lucky. It's raining most of the time. It didn't stop us!
We were walking all the time. We could have used the metro. It'd be faster, but on the other hand, we saw more.

Let's start...
We set off from the Place de la Concorde to the Champs Elysees (les Champs Élysées).

This is the most famous street in the world. Partially we walked in the parks...

The Champs Elysees connects the Place de la Concorde with Charles DE Gaulle Place, on which the Arc de Triomphe is located.

We arrived at the Arc de Triomphe. WOW There is huge traffic here. I have no idea how people handle these intersections. I didn't even try to understand.

Napoleon Bonaparte commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe in 1806, but it was completed only in 1836 during the reign of Louis Philippe I. The monument was built to commemorate fighting and fallen soldiers in the French Revolution and Napoleonic wars.

And now one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. Parisians completed construction in 1898 and at the time it was the tallest building in the world. As a reminder: the Eiffel Tower is 324 meters high, but this may change under the influence of temperature. The stairs are 1665 degrees and thanks to them we can reach the first and second observation deck. We can take a lift to each of the three viewing levels. Unfortunately, queues for both stairs and lifts were terribly long. So we admired her from the lawn because we decided to relax nearby.

We walked along the banks of the Seine to reach the Notre Dame Cathedral. The queue to enter was long again. No wonder, because it's time for mass. We were lucky and we saw the cathedral from the inside. At present, the church is closed due to a fire in April 2019.

Celebrating masses in the warm light of candelabra and candles gave the place an extremely sublime atmosphere. I was breathtaking when I looked at the rosettes. At that moment, Notre Dame cathedral became the most beautiful thing created by human being (forgive my cathedral in Kołobrzeg).

The hosts of Notre Dame Cathedral came up with a great idea of separating prayers from visitors using curtains. Of course, we still heard singing and prayer. However, with this number of people who want to visit this monument, one or another solution had to come about. In our cathedral, there is a ban on visiting and photographing during mass.

The weather did not spoil us. When we left the cathedral. It was just raining. We arrived at the Louvre Museum but it was too late to explore. We will have to come back here :)

As you can see the weather was bad. The city sightseeing is always better on sunny days. Nevermind. Paris is wonderful!

Zwiedzać oczywiście!

Odwiedziliśmy Paryż tylko na jeden dzień. Nie mieliśmy szczęścia, gdyż padało prawie cały czas ... To nas nie zatrzymało!

Poruszaliśmy się na pieszo. Mogliśmy użyć metra, bo byłoby szybciej, ale z drugiej strony zobaczyliśmy więcej.

Zaczynajmy...
Wyruszyliśmy z Placu Zgody na Pola Elizejskie ( les Champs Élysées ).

To główna i najbardziej znana na świecie ulica Paryża. Szliśmy czasem parkami...

Pola Elizejskie łączą Plac Zgody ( Place de la Concorde ) z Placem Charles'a De Gaulle'a, na którym znajduje się Łuk Triumfalny.
Dotarliśmy do Łuku Triumfalnego. WOW . Tu jest ogromny ruch uliczny. Nie mam pojęcia jak  ludzie radzą sobie na tych skrzyżowaniach. Nawet nie próbowałam zrozumieć.
Napoleon Bonaparte zlecił budowę Łuku Triumfalnego w 1806 roku, ale został on ukończony dopiero w 1836, gdy panował Ludwk Filip I. Monument został wybudowany w celu uczczenia walczących i poległych żołnierzy w rewolucji francuskiej i wojen napoleońskich.

A teraz jeden z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych obiektów na świecie. Paryżanie ukończyli wieżę Eiffla w 1898 roku i wtedy był to najwyższy budynek na świecie. Dla przypomnienia: budowla ma 324 metry wysokości, lecz może się to zmieniać pod wpływem temperatury. Schody mają 1665 stopni i dzięki nim dotrzemy do pierwszego i drugiego tarasu widokowego. Windą dojedziemy na każdy z trzech poziomów widokowych. Niestety kolejki zarówno do schodów jak i do wind były okropnie długie. Podziwialiśmy ją więc z trawnika, bo niedaleko postanowiliśmy odpocząć.

Dalej spacerowaliśmy wzdłuż brzegów Sekwany by dotrzeć do katedry Notre Dame. Kolejka do wejścia była ponownie długa. Nic dziwnego, gdyż nastał czas mszy. Mieliśmy to szczęścia i zobaczyliśmy katedrę od środka. Na chwilę obecną kościół jest zamknięty ze względu na pożar w kwietniu 2019 roku.

Celebrowanie mszy w ciepłym świetle kandelabrów i świec nadało miejscu niezwykle podniosłą atmosferę . Dech mi w piersiach zapierało, gdy patrzałam na rozety. W tym momencie katedra Notre Dame stała się dla mnie najpiękniejszą rzeczą stworzoną przez człowieka (wybacz moja kołobrzeska katedro).

Gospodarze katedry Notre Dame wpadli na świetny pomysł oddzielenia modlących się od zwiedzających za pomocą kotar. Oczywiście wciąż słyszeliśmy śpiew i modlitwę. Jednak przy tej ilości ludzi, którzy pragną zwiedzić ten zabytek musiało dojść do takiego czy innego rozwiązania. U nas w katedrze jest zakaz zwiedzania i fotografowania podczas mszy.

Pogoda nie rozpieszczała nas. Gdy opuściliśmy katedrę. Po prostu lało. Dotarliśmy do Luwru, ale było już za późno na zwiedzanie. Trzeba będzie tu wrócić :)

Jak wspominiałam, mieliśmy kiepską pogodę. Szkoda, bo zwiedzanie miast jest lepsze podczas słonecznych dni. Nieważne. Paryż jest wspaniały!
