Little Church

The building complex of the former monastery of the Evangelical Deaconess.
"According to multiple German sources, the church was built in this place at the end of 13th century. From the middle of the 15th century the church housed Benedictine nuns, which is why it was called monastery . In 1630, all the buildings of the city were destroyed during a fire. The church was rebuilt by the Duke Ernest Boguslaw von Croy in 1649. Since the moment Kolobrzeg received the status of fortress in 1653, it became a Protestant garrison church. The current structure id from 1832, when it was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style after the destruction caused by the siege of Kolobrzeg by the Russian first, and then the French, Other buildings were erected at the end of the 19th century, including a monastery for Protestant girls. In 1945, the church was dedicated to St. Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and incorporated into the parish of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin." Board next to the church.

Niepokalanego Poczęcia Maryi Panny i włączono do parafii rzymsko-katolickiej pw. Św. Marcina." Tablica informacyjna obok kościoła.
We call it the Little Church, as it is situated nearby the cathedral.
----------
Nazywamy go Małym Kościółkiem, gdyż usytuowany jest w pobliżu katedry.

Indoor pictures I took from behind the glass, because the church was closed.Only narthex was open for visitors at this time of the day.
----------

    1. Parish church of my childhood and the cathedral are always opened (except for nights of course), that's why I was surprise. Besides the building is aknowledged as a historical site, so tourists probably would like to see it inside...
